Lamb Lane Old Cottages & Shepherds Row

Remains an old house (see photo below)

There once stood a row of cottages and a large house fronting onto Lamb Lane and Shepherd’s Row. The foundations can still be seen and the ground is very uneven as a result of abandoned rubble.

The Bell pub is in the foreground with the cottages beyond. The large houses at the end are at the junction of Lamb Lane and Crouch Hall Lane.

The view today

At the corner of this site the tap can still be seen of a well that was located as the local water supply to this area. The area is now an open space, but at right angle to the area is the row of cottages still known as Shepherds Row. These have their front gardens facing the path to the High Street.
