North Common Snatchup Cottages

These cottages were condemned and demolished in the 1950’s. They had been used by refugees from the Blitz during the war and by countless Redbourn families before that. They had gardens in the front and a well.

The stile in the photo led into Cooper’s Meadow and a path ran across the field to Crouch Hall Farm. In the photo below you can see the Weslyan Chapel in the distance. Today the Junior School and its playing field occupy the area.  The site on this corner now has retirement bungalows.
